Effective Management: Pushing Forward

It's February already! Time definitely goes by way too quick! Recently I came across a quote that read, "Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out". This definitely resonates with me as I continue to achieve my goals for 2018.

Yesterday a friend and I were having a discussion and talking about following through on our 2018 action plans! As you know, I’m usually the optimistic one… that person who always has something positive to say even when the world is coming to an end.

Well during our discussion a few points came out. My friend was struggling with the thought of loosing focus after a few weeks of taking action. Now look. I get it! I know that we all have our moments where we’re highly motivated and crossing off tasks from our to do list. Then we enter into a phase of depletion. Whether exhaustion or boredom or even doubt… it sinks in and we start to procrastinate. No longer does the inspiration stand for us to complete what we had set out to do.

So, when they mentioned that they were struggling with this thought, I couldn’t help but to think to myself ways in which we can set ourselves up for success. That might mean setting a routine…  saying “no” more often…and self care!

I think when we shield ourselves from distraction, our chances of achieving our goals are a lot higher. It’s about the triggers! That’s knowledge you gain from self awareness. When you know what triggers you to stop loosing that weight, being more active, and eating right… you’re golden! And yes! You got’sta leave room for forgiveness ‘cause no one’s perfect. So keep striving for the better you because you know you’re well worth it.
